In Dubai, offset printing services always remain in demand because of the higher number of newly launched businesses and established businesses that use banners, printers, and other materials for marketing and order personalized t-shirts and other items for promotional purposes. When you enter the world of printing, you will often hear the term “four-color printing”. In this blog, we will discuss what four-color printing means and if you can hire services of four-color offset printing in Dubai.

What Is Four-Color Printing?

Four-color printing is the printing process that involves four different ink colors to produce a range of printing colors and more attractive images. These four colors are Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black (CMYK). This type of printing is commonly used in offset printing presses in Dubai and digital printing presses in Dubai.

In this printing process, these four colors are combined to create different colors to produce colorful images. Note that using four-color printing doesn’t mean that your printed item will have only four colors. It will have more than four colors. Four colors are just used as primary colors and other hues are formed by using these primary colors. You might be surprised to know that thousands of colors can be reproduced by overlapping CMYK colors in different concentrations.

Whether you want wall arts, magazine, book covers, or photo books, you can print them all using CMYK ink.

RGB is another color combination that is used for monitors and when printing digital images. For the best reproduction of colors in your digital images, RGB combination is recommended because this is the default setting in most photo-editing software.

What Is Four-Color Printing Used For?

Four-color printing is the most commonly used method for printing materials with full-color images. All commercial printers use the four-color process method for projects that contain multi-colored designs and photographs. You can use four-color offset printing in Dubai to print books, catalogs, manuals, post cards, brochures, magazines, and other materials.

Four color printing can be used for both, offset printing and digital printing, and is a highly affordable printing solution when you wanted colorful printed materials.

Can Four-Color Process Produce Every Color We Want?

No. While four-color process can reproduce a wide range of colors, it cannot reproduce every color imaginable exactly. When you want colors that cannot be exactly reproduced by 4-color process, you can use PMS colors, also called Spot colors or Pantone Matching System colors. The PMS process can help reproduce particular colors you want as PMS colors are specific color formulas that will reproduce color very accurately in print.

Instead of stimulating colors by creating separate layers using multiple ink colors with CMYK four-color process, PMS ink colors are pre-mixed from existing color formulas and assigned a standard number.

On certain projects, both PMS colors are used in combination with CMYK process colors. Then, these are called 5-color or 6-color projects as they use 4 CMYK colors along with additional one or two PMS colors or even more. This technique is typically used to print certain elements of a design such as corporate logo.
